Videocon Krypton 3 V50JG impresses in many segments but its appearance doesn't inspire much.
    Pros
  • Latest Android Marshmallow OS
  • Can play high-end games
  • Superb rear camera
    Cons
  • Looks very cheap
  • No special feature to stand out in the crowd
Videocon, a major name in the field of electronics in India, is still one of the minor players in the Indian handset market. It mostly offers budget handsets but it has off late launched some feature rich smartphones.
The Videocon Krypton 3 V50JG is one of its latest launches. It was launched in May this year and offers the latest Android Marshmallow operating system. This 4G VoLTE supporting smartphone has 2 GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory which is expandable by upto 64GB. The smartphone is packed with an impressive Mediatek 64-Bit 1.3 GHz quad core processor. It has standard connectivity features like Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, Dual SIM, and FM radio.
Besides, the Krypton3 V50JG comes with a 13-megapixel snapper featuring dual LED flash, Smart Wide Dynamic Range (SWDR), and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) feature. Corning Gorilla Lens protects the camera. It has a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The phone has a 5-Inch HD IPS screen with scratch resistant DragontrailX Glass.

Design

With 5.5-inch smartphones becoming common these days, I felt the Krypton 3 quite compact and am pretty sure most you find it quite easy to use. The phone is also quite light (just 142.5 grams).

Camera

To be frank, the Videocon Krypton 3 V50JG surprised me with its camera output. The pictures captured through rear camera had great quality, sharpness and colour output. It managed to capture pictures from very close quarters. The front camera though could have been better and since the 5-megapixel selfie unit is not an autofocus camera, you should be very careful while clicking selfies else you might regret after some time.

Performance

With Mediatek 64-Bit 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 2 GB RAM, I expected the phone to offer a smooth performance and it did. The phone managed to play Asphalt Nitro and Lara Croft Relic Run like heavy games. Thankfully, it has the Android Marshmallow operating system – which I think is the best thing about this handset.
Memory wise it is as good as any in this price segment as it has 16 GB of inbuilt storage while its expandable storage slot can hold a 64 GB micro SD card.
